iRig Mic shipping! Filter’s Lead singer, CrunchGear and Wired reviewers love it already…

Yesterday, IK Multimedia announced that they are shipping the iRig Mic for $59.99, the first handheld condenser microphone for your iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. The iRig Mic will work with any app that will accept an audio input, like GarageBand for iPad, Glee for iPhone, the video camera app, and any karaoke apps out there! Advance and launch day reviews of the iRig Mic and VocaLive app from the tech enthusiasts are already beaming across the internet, and here are some quotes:

Wired’s GeekDad – Chuck Lawton said, “iRig Mic and VocaLive Deliver the Complete Vocal Package for iOS.”

“The hardware of the iRig Mic itself is competent, but it really shines when coupled with the VocaLive app. Featuring a list of effects including Delay, Chorus, Compressor, Parametric EQ, Reverb, Envelope Filter, Phazer, De-Esser, Choir, Pitch Fix and Morph, you can drench your voice in dreamy reverb, add in instant harmony section in real time, or apply auto-tuning effects to get that T-Pain sound. Some of the effects are gimmicky sounding but there’s enough here that you can really customize your sound for use either in the studio or in real time during a performance. There are a wide variety of presets to show what you can do right out of the box and the same app-within-an-app multitrack recording capabilities found in the AmpliTube software.”

CrunchGear’s Jay Donovan said, “IK Multimedia’s VocaLive app for recording live audio…coupled with the soon-to-ship iRig Mic, the two make a formidable pair for creating many kinds of audio recordings: vocal performance, field recordings, etc.

“I got my hands on both of them and gave them a very quick run through and I have to say I really liked how they worked in tandem. A lot of utility packed into a pretty small package. The three-way toggle on the iRig Mic makes it very useful for a variety of up-close and far-away recording scenarios. Plus, since the iRig Mic works with with any iOS app (like the built in video camera). I think you really get your money’s worth when you shell out $60 for it. VocaLive‘s real-time effects worked for me with low latency and sounded good. Bravo!”

CrunchGear’s Jay Donovan was recently at SXSW and interviewed Filter’s lead singer with the iRig Mic (and he video interviewed like 7 or 8 other rock stars, using only his iPhone and the iRig Mic..pretty cool). Here is the video interview: Rock Star On The Outside…Gadget Junkie On The Inside: An Interview With Richard Patrick From FILTER (NSFW Language):

Here is a sweet audio demo video from TLD Today, using the iRig Mic and VocaLive:
